Colour Me In is an interactive mural project that addresses the spatial inequalities embedded in Cape Town’s apartheid-era urban planning. By inviting members of the public to redraw the city’s map, the work challenged imposed racial boundaries and encouraged participants to imagine more equitable ways of occupying and using the city. The resulting large-scale drawing, layered with political slogans and personal messages, became a platform for dialogue, public participation, and the collective reimagining of Cape Town’s spatial future.
