Umcimbi wendawo (A Gathering of the Place) is an intervention that merges isintu practices with the local context of Krems an der Donau, Austria. The work extends my exploration of ontology, epistemology, and the pluralisation of knowledge within isintu, using collective gathering as a method for producing meaning through dialogue and shared meals. Drawing on Daniel Spoerri’s gastronomical diaries and snare pictures, I reoriented the dinner table as a conceptual device to question how umcimbi is perceived and performed. Situated in Krems, the intervention displaces umcimbi from its regional context and opens it to reinterpretation. This reconfiguration enables experimentation, play, and the reimagining of cultural form, transforming umcimbi into a dynamic space for expanding and pluralising understandings of knowledge, practice, and social exchange.
