Study of the Studio reflects an introspective engagement with the creative environment as both a physical and conceptual site. Using spraypaint on paper, the work abstracts the geometry, rhythm, and spatial tensions of the artist’s studio—rendering the everyday tools, surfaces, and energies of making into a layered composition.

Rather than depicting the studio in representational terms, the work explores the spatial logic and material intuition that guide the creative process. It becomes a meditation on the studio not just as a workspace, but as a container for memory, experimentation, and ritual.

Through the use of line, form, and movement, Study of the Studio gestures toward the often-invisible labour embedded in artistic practice, while continuing Sandile Radebe’s broader inquiry into language, mark-making, and the architecture of thought.
